Signing electronic documents with the digital identity SPID: now it is possible. The new Guidelines enacted by the Italian Digital Agency.
With the recent Act 157/2020 as of March 23rd, 2020 bearing the "Guidelines for electronic signing as per article 20 of the Italian Code for Digital Administration" the Italian Digital Agency qualified the SPID (Public System for Digital Identity) as a valid mean to sign acts and contracts electronically. SPID becomes accordingly equal to a qualified digital signature, beyond being a mean for electronic authentication.

In this article Prof. Avv. Alessandro del Ninno evaluates in a practical perspective the Guidelines enacted by the Italian Digital Agency and further explains the two phases provided (1. drafting and arranging the document to be signed via SPID and 2. giving consent to the signature).
