New Public opt-out registry in force.

The Public opt-out registry (RPO - Registro pubblico delle opposizioni) extended to all national telephone numbers, both land-line and mobile, allows the CITIZENS to opt-out of unwanted telemarketing calls by revoking consent to advertising, and of the transfer to third parties of previously provided personal data. With the new service, the OPERATOR must consult the RPO monthly and in any case before carrying out advertising campaigns by telephone. The opt-out may also refer to paper advertising if the address is in public telephone directories.

How it works.

If you no longer wish to receive telemarketing calls, you can subscribe your telephone numbers, both land-line and mobile, in the Public opt-out registry. Subscribing to the service cancels previously issued advertising consents (except for active contracts) and prohibits the disclosure of data to third parties. The service refers to both human-operated and automated calls (“robocalls”). Subscription is free of charge and for an indefinite period, but it can be renewed if one wishes to revoke telemarketing consents given after subscription to the RPO.

Who can subscribe.

The Public opt-out registry has been extended to all land-line and mobile telephone numbers, both those in public and reserved telephone directories. All citizens with a telephone contract (also known as “telephone contractors”) can subscribe to the service by blocking the use of their number for advertising purposes by telemarketers.

How to subscribe.

You can subscribe one or more telephone numbers to the RPO by three means: telephone, web and e-mail.
