Ministry of Economic Development: the definitive document on the Italian Strategy for Artificial Intelligence published.
The MiSE (Ministry of Economic Development) has published in the last few hours the definitive document containing the proposals for the "Italian Strategy for Artificial Intelligence".
This completes the work carried out by the team of experts selected by the same dicastery who have received the comments received following the 2019 public consultation. The document takes into account the different technologies that can be implemented in synergy with AI, so there is no lack of references to IoT (Internet of Things), ultra-fast 5G connectivity, the diffusion of distributed technologies such as Blockchain and the Cloud Computing defined as the AI environment par excellence.
It also underlines the importance of a Data Driven approach to AI as well as the need to have professionals with STEM skills (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics), in the same way some risks related to the use of AI are remembered such as the possible negative impacts on the economy of inadequately governed algorithms. The Italian strategy approved by the Ministry was structured in 3 parts: the first focused on the analysis of the global, European and national AI market, the second conceived with the aim of describing the fundamental elements of the strategy itself and the third designed to deepen the aspects related to AI governance in the Peninsula. The last part introduces at the same time some recommendations for the implementation, monitoring and communication of the AI strategy.
The document will be the basis for defining an Italian strategy within the European Coordinated Plan.
